02

Add Deductions

Enter only the deductions you are genuinely eligible to claim under the old regime.

The calculator applies the relevant tax slabs, rebate where applicable and 4% health and education cess.

04

Compare Regimes

See which regime produces the lower estimated tax based on your entered figures.

OLD VS NEW TAX REGIME

Which tax regime may work better for you?

The better regime depends on your income and the deductions and exemptions you are actually eligible to claim.

OLD TAX REGIME

More deduction-focused

The old regime can be useful for taxpayers with substantial eligible deductions and exemptions.

Section 80C investments and payments
Section 80D health insurance deduction
Additional NPS deduction under Section 80CCD(1B)
Eligible HRA exemption
Eligible home-loan tax benefits
NEW TAX REGIME

Simpler slab structure

The new regime has revised slabs and generally does not allow most common Chapter VI-A deductions.

Nil slab up to ₹4 lakh
5% to 30% slab rates based on income
Section 87A rebate up to ₹60,000 where applicable
Eligible employer NPS contribution remains relevant
Fewer deduction calculations for many taxpayers

SMART TAX PLANNING

Don't invest only for the deduction

Tax planning should fit into your broader financial plan. A tax deduction can reduce taxable income, but the underlying investment or expense should also make financial sense for you.

Check your existing investments

Review your current PPF, EPF, insurance, ELSS and other eligible investments before making additional commitments.

Compare both tax regimes

Do not assume that more deductions automatically make the old regime better. Compare your actual numbers.

Keep your documents ready

Maintain investment proofs, insurance receipts, loan certificates and other supporting records.
